Seeking Land for Our New Care Farm: Help Us Find the Perfect Spot!

Hello, dear friends and flower lovers! We have some exciting news here at Wild & Whimsy Flower Farm. As you know, our beautiful flower farm at Fulford Hall continues to flourish, bringing joy to our community with every petal and leaf. Now, we’re thrilled to share that we’re ready to sow seeds for a new, heartfelt project: a care farm specifically designed to support young adults with learning disabilities.

As neurodivergent folks ourselves, we understand the gentle, transformative power of nature. We’ve experienced the quiet magic of tending to flowers, the calm that comes from working with our hands in the soil, and the joy of watching blooms come to life. Now, we’re looking to create a space where young adults with learning disabilities can experience this connection too – a safe, nurturing place where they can learn, grow, and find peace through working with flowers and the natural world.

What We’re Looking For

To bring this vision to life, we need your help! We’re seeking 1.5-2 acres of land that we can either purchase or rent. Ideally, the land would have:

  • Water access: Essential for nourishing plants and maintaining the landscape as well as providing washing facilities.

  • An outbuilding: A large shed, barn, or small structure would be wonderful for storing tools, providing a sheltered workspace, and creating a base for our care farm activities.

This land would allow us to start a new chapter while continuing our beloved flower farm at Fulford Hall. By creating a care farm, we aim to offer young adults with learning disabilities a space where they can not only learn horticultural skills but also connect with nature in a truly meaningful way.

Why This Project Matters

Creating a care farm is about much more than growing flowers; it’s about nurturing a sense of purpose, accomplishment, and belonging. Working with nature offers therapeutic benefits that can have a positive impact on mental health, confidence, and overall well-being. It’s a grounding experience that encourages mindfulness and connection – qualities we hope to share with the young adults who will join us.

For many young people with learning disabilities, opportunities for hands-on work in a supportive, nonjudgmental environment can be life-changing. Through this project, we hope to provide a place where they can feel empowered, build practical skills, and simply enjoy the magic of the outdoors.

A Call to Our Community: Help Us Find the Perfect Spot!

If you, or someone you know, has a little plot of land that fits the bill, we’d love to chat about possibilities! Even if you’re not quite sure it’s the right fit, please don’t hesitate to reach out – we’re open to exploring different options and ideas. Our hope is to work together with the community to make this vision a reality.

Our care farm will be a warm, welcoming place, shaped by the same love and dedication we’ve poured into our flower farm. It will be a sanctuary, a place to learn, heal, and grow. We’re excited to take this step, and we’d be so grateful if you could help us plant the seeds.

Thank you for being part of our journey, for cheering us on, and for sharing the beauty of flowers with us every day. We can’t wait to bring this new chapter to life – and we hope you’ll be part of it.

Please feel free to get in touch for a friendly chat. Together, we can create something truly beautiful and impactful.

With love and gratitude,
Ness + Sydney
